Four Imperial academic foresighters shared their visions for the future of imaging technologies with global leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Tianjin, China.

Led by Imperial's Vice President for Innovation, Professor David Gann, the scientists joined three days of presentations, workshops and discussions focussed on solving some of the world's most pressing challenges.

In recognition of their ground-breaking work, two of our foresighters, Drs Gabrielle Thomas and Ben Glocker, were nominated as WEF Young Scientists.

Listen to BBC presenter Gareth Mitchell's podcast from Tianjin with Professor David Gann.

How are advances in imaging across length and time scales paving the way for novel products and new industries?

Imaging science helps us to see, quite literally, beyond the limits of our own senses, perceiving not only the smallest phenomena in our universe but also some of the largest. Four Imperial scientists showcase science at the cutting edge of imaging with a journey across length and time scales, from the ultra-small, ultra-fast world of electrons, to the human scale of medical imaging, and the technologies that can image entire planets in unprecedented detail. Their ideas are concerned not only with what we can see, but what we can then do with the information and insights that are gained, promising new applications and new opportunities for society and industry.
